Desmopressin is a synthetic analogue of the natural hormone vasopressin, designed to regulate the body’s water balance. It works by reducing urine production and increasing water reabsorption in the kidneys. Desmopressin is commonly used in the treatment of central diabetes insipidus, nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting), and nocturia, and is also used to manage certain bleeding disorders such as mild hemophilia A and von Willebrand disease by increasing clotting factor levels.
